Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar Marked Down to $699 for Black Friday 1 hour ago

If you’re in the market for a new soundbar, you may want to consider the Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar. It usually retails for $900, but during Black Friday it’s marked down to $699 (a $200 difference). The Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar offers top features including Dolby Atmos playback, AI Dialogue so you can connect to Amazon’s Alexa, Voice4Video and much more.

This soundbar is a favorite of CNET tech editor, Ty Pendlebury, who tested the Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar and its predecessor, the Bose Smart Soundbar 900. In his latest review, he says that though this soundbar is more expensive, it’s worth the splurge because of its upgraded features. It can be streamed through the Bose app, Amazon music and Pandora. It also comes with a remote if you don’t want to control it with your smartphone.

Pendlebury says that if you have the money, it’s worth splurging on this soundbar because it gives you great audio for both movies and music. But if you’re on a budget, you’ll be equally satisfied with a Vizio Elevate, which is $150 cheaper, at $549, than the Black Friday Bose deal price.

Bose’s new Smart Soundbar, a refresh of its $499 Smart Soundbar 600, has a couple of intriguing new features. Not only is there a new A.I. Dialogue Mode that Bose says uses a machine learning algorithm to adjust tonal balance in real time when it detects speech in an audio stream for clarity, but you can pair the company’s Ultra Open Earbuds with the speaker and turn them into rear surround speakers when watching movies. Bose calls the feature Personal Surround Sound. 

Aside from those new features, the Bose Smart Soundbar appears to be the same speaker as the Smart Soundbar 600, which thought had excellent sound for a single speaker (read our full review). As with that model, the Bose Smart Soundbar is a compact Dolby Atmos speaker with dedicated height speakers, and its sound quality is top notch, especially for dialogue-heavy movies and TV shows. The soundbar also adds in features such as multiroom music and the Alexa voice assistant.
